Saia Receives Second Consecutive
LTL Carrier of the Year Award From Coastal Unilube

For the second consecutive year, Saia has received the Coastal Unilube LTL Carrier of the Year Award for quality service.

Saia Vice President of National Accounts Terry Ryan and Saia National Account Executive Doyle Jacobs accepted the award during Coastal’s annual awards dinner. Coastal has been holding annual awards banquets for the past 12 years, but only presenting the LTL Carrier of the Year Award for the past two.

"This is a tremendous honor," said Ryan, "especially when you consider vendors from all segments, not just transportation companies, are reviewed for their service in consideration for this annual award. Those that we compete against for this award are included in a list of top Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 companies."

Coastal Unilube is a subsidiary of El Paso Corporation, a Houston-based energy holding company with consolidated assets of $16 billion and subsidiary operations in natural gas transmission, storage, gathering/processing and marketing; oil and gas exploration and production; petroleum refining, marketing and distribution; chemicals; power production; and coal. "We are proud to have an alliance with Saia that truly benefits our organization and our customers," said Coastal Unlibue’s Director of Logistics Greg Mathews on presenting the award to Ryan and Jacobs.

"During the past 18 months Coastal has streamlined their distribution network, and they have moved from a distribution system that featured multiple warehouses to a system that now encompasses only two warehouses," said Ryan. "During this transition, it was imperative that Coastal choose an LTL carrier that could handle the increased demand for on-time delivery," he said. Coastal partnered with Saia for delivery of their orders. Saia has consistently performed at or above 98 percent on-time delivery. "The partnership has been very rewarding for both companies, and as recognition of Saia's efforts, Coastal presented Saia with the LTL Carrier of the Year award two years in a row," Ryan added.

Saia President and CEO Rick O’Dell recognized employees for their team effort in achieving this honor. "I want to congratulate our employees for earning this award two years in a row," he said. "This says a lot about our commitment to provide customers with superior service."

Saia is a provider of regional one and two day service from Southern Virginia, across the south and west to California, and northwest into Oregon and Washington with partner service to the rest of the continental United States. Saia also provides service to Puerto Rico, and complete North American coverage is offered including Canada and Mexico. Saia has more than 5,000 employees networking from more than 100 locations. Saia is a subsidiary of SCS Transportation, Inc., a regional carrier holding company, that is a wholly owned subsidiary of Yellow Corporation (NASDAQ: YELL).
