‘Training Day’ Movie Hits Wal-Mart Stores On Time
The feature film "Training Day" – in which Denzel Washington won an Oscar – was on the shelves on time in Wal-Mart stores in the Saia 21-state coverage area last month. Exel Logistics established a goal of 100 percent on–time delivery within a specified delivery window. Saia met the challenge with no early or late deliveries to the Wal-Mart stores. Saia Senior Vice President of Operations and Sales Tony Albanese credited his company's operational discipline and technology capabilities enabling the 100 percent on time delivery. "We had 902 shipments, all going to Wal-Mart stores in our coverage area that had to be at the stores in a two-day window, and as a result of our performance, we have been awarded future movie shipments," Albanese said. Exel Logistics Business Development Manager Robert Lawson and his company's customer service group praised Saia for the "exceptional performance." The movie tracks the events of the first day on the job of a rookie cop (Ethan Hawke) working in the Los Angeles Police Department's undercover narcotics unit. His partner is Alonzo, a corrupt veteran cop (Washington). Washington won the Oscar for best actor in a leading role during the 74th Annual Academy Awards last month and Hawke was nominated for the best actor in a supporting role.
