Saia Receives Vendor of Year Award from Coastal Unilube
Saia has received its fifth customer award in recent months by being named the "Vendor of the Year" for 2000 by Coastal Unilube, a subsidiary of El Paso Corporation. "Saia competed with a number of top notch Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 companies for this honor and we are extremely happy that we were chosen from among those quality organizations," said Saia Vice President of Sales Terry Ryan. Ryan said not only was Saia selected above Coastal’s other transportation carriers, but best among Coastal’s other vendors as well. "While managing Coastal Unilube’s fleet, Saia created value, helped Coastal improve service and manage costs," said Ryan. "The hard work and superior service we have provided to Coastal Unilube has paid off. Our employees are to be congratulated." Ryan and National Account Executive Doyle Jacobs were present for the award presentation made by several Coastal management team members at the Coastal Unilube’s Vendor/Manager Conference held last month. "Every major vendor for Coastal was present for the conference," said Jacobs. "We were able to meet specific performance criteria in order to receive this honor." In the past couple of months, Saia has won the Ciba Additives 2000 Carrier of Choice Award, the Illinois Tool Works (ITW) Ramset/Red Head Choice Partner Award, the Mark VII Regional LTL Carrier of the Year Award for 2000 and the Ciba Colors Carrier of the Quarter Award.
