| Saia LTL Freight Celebrates Grand Opening of New Grayslake, Ill. Facility | ||
JOHNS CREEK, GA - May 10, 2016 - Saia, Inc. (NASDAQ: SAIA) recently celebrated the completion of its new state-of-the-art Saia LTL Freight cross-dock facility near Grayslake, Ill. with a ribbon cutting ceremony. "We are very excited about this opportunity to expand Saia's presence in both Illinois and southern Wisconsin," said Ray Ramu, the company's chief customer officer, speaking at the ceremony. "The completion of this new terminal allows us to better serve our customers in the growing northern Chicago suburbs." In addition to company employees and several members of Saia's executive team, nearly 50 local customers; area dignitaries and community leaders, including Village of Grayslake Mayor Rhett Taylor; and project personnel, including Principle Construction Corp. President Jim Brucato attended the event. The standalone terminal is situated on over 30 acres and features an expansive dock with 100 doors, administrative space, a maintenance shop, and a fueling station. It is located on S. Midlothian Road in the Mundelein/Grayslake area and provides 70,000 square feet of combined work space. Improvements to the site also include an automated snow scraper, a truck scale and concrete pavement offering ample parking space. Aside from the completion of the Grayslake terminal, the company also recently finished an expansion of its Kansas City, Mo. facility, which involved adding 58 new doors to the dock and yard space as well.
