Saia Awarded for Wireless Technology Innovation

DULUTH, GA - Industry-leading Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) carrier Saia, a wholly owned subsidiary of SCS Transportation, Inc., (NASDAQ: SCST), a multi-regional carrier holding company based in Kansas City, Missouri, continues to drive the transportation industry as an innovator of technological offerings.

The company was selected a winner for "Business Evolution Through Mobilizing Field Workers" in the Mobile & Wireless Worlds "Best Practices in Mobile & Wireless" Award Program. The 2005 award honored companies, including Saia, Cox Communications, Staples, Inc. and Maytag Corporation, with strategic enterprise mobile and wireless technology solutions in four categories: Deploying Wireless Mobility in the Enterprise, Transforming the "Brick and Mortar" of the Enterprise, Business Evolution Through Mobilizing Field Workers and Managing Cellular Mobile Data. The event is owned and produced by IDGs Computerworld.

A wide range of IT end-user companies and organizations responded to an initial "call for nominations," which was originally announced to multiple industry audiences. The finalists were evaluated by a panel of mobile and wireless experts, industry editors, and IT business analysts in each of the categories based on their mobile and wireless achievements, which were measured against criteria such as return on investment, strategic/substantive importance to the business, customer impact, positive impact on other business/organization units and ability to address challenges of data, information and application security, recovery and business continuity.

"As the mobile and wireless revolution continues to provide substantial opportunities to advance efficiencies and profits, it is imperative that IT executives remain well-informed," said Ron Milton, executive vice president at Computerworld. "Our 'Best Practices in Mobile & Wireless' Award recipients have risen to the challenges inherent in mobile and wireless technology to deliver strategic value across their organizations and demonstrate the promise of mobile and wireless solutions. We look forward to honoring recipients and honorable mentions in front of their peer end-users at Mobile & Wireless World."

Saia Chief Information Officer Mark Robinson said that the award signifies the advancements made by Saia in offering industry-leading technological services.

"The 'Best Practices in Mobile & Wireless' Award illustrates that Saia continues to lead the way in developing systems to help our customers exceed their logistics and shipping goals," said Robinson. "This announcement confirms our continued achievements as a company and rewards the work of the entire Saia team."
