Saia, Inc. Garners American Trucking Associations Awards
DULUTH, GA - January 20, 2005 - Industry leading less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier Saia has been presented with two 2003 National Truck Safety Contest Safe Fleet Awards based on accident frequency. One award was given to Saia for LTL/Linehaul drivers driving more than 50,000,000 miles and the second award was presented for LTL/Local drivers with safe records between 30,000,000 and 50,000,000 miles. Saia received the prestigious awards from the Safety & Loss Prevention Management Council of the American Trucking Associations based on reporting from the Department of Transportation. The two awards were recently presented to Saia Director of Safety & Training Phil Jennings. The National Truck Safety Contest Safe Fleet Awards recognize driver safety performance based on the total number of DOT reportable accidents and the number of miles driven. The Safe Fleet Awards are given to transportation companies annually. The ATA National Truck & Industrial Safety Contests are the premier recognition awards available to drivers, employees, and the safety directors who lead them. These contests have been conducted for more than 50 years recognizing the top companies who have the lowest accident frequency.
