Saia Wins Lowe’s 2003 Bronze Team Award
Saia, a wholly owned subsidiary of SCS Transportation, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCST), has been presented with the "2003 Bronze Team Award" by Lowe’s Companies, Inc. It is the third consecutive year that Saia has received a distinguished award from Lowe’s. Robert Long, Director – LTL Transportation for Lowe’s commented, "Saia demonstrates daily attention to our business with the same degree of passion that Lowe's receives from its employee owners. Additionally, Saia reviews shared inbound processes with Lowe's to help sustain an advantage over our competition. Lowe's is proud to be a supply-chain partner with Saia," he added. Steve Palmer, Vice President of Transportation, presented the award to Saia Customized Account Representative Tara Knapp, who works very closely with the account. Other Saia management team members present during the ceremony were Vice President of National Accounts Terry Ryan, National Account Executive Doyle Jacobs, and Saia Senior Vice President of Operations and Sales Tony Albanese. Saia earned the award for attaining Lowe’s GAP Compliance and on-time service goals. GAP is one of Lowe’s key partnership audit measurements, which is used to evaluate whether shipments are delivered in a timely manner to Lowe’s Stores. In order to become GAP compliant, the carrier must deliver consistently each Lowe’s shipment to the store the same day it arrives at the destination facility. "We are very excited about the partnership we have developed with Lowe’s and appreciate this service recognition," said Albanese following the award presentation ceremonies. "The relationship between Lowe’s and Saia has made us a better carrier. Together, Lowe’s and Saia have been proactive in finding solutions to continuously improve the service to the distribution centers and direct to store deliveries."
