| Answering Customer Needs, Saia Offers One-Day Service From Miami, FL to Tallahassee, FL | ||
MIAMI, FL – Responding to customer needs, Saia today announced that the company would offer one-day transit service from its Miami, FL terminal and surrounding cities to its Tallahassee, FL terminal service area. "We are pleased to announce this transit time improvement to Tallahassee, which allows us an opportunity to better service our customers in that area," said Tony Albanese, senior vice president of operations and sales. Since October of last year, Saia has improved transit times to more than 7,800 cities in its 21-state system. As a result of those changes, Saia now delivers 63 percent of its shipments in one day, versus the 58 percent it delivered in September. Overall, 90 percent of Saia shipments are delivered in two days or less versus the 87 percent prior to the October changes. Based on these more stringent standards, on-time service for the month of February was 97.1 percent. This exceeds current service goals. "I believe this transit time improvement from Miami demonstrates our relentless pursuit of excellence," said Albanese. "It also is a tribute to Saia employees who continue to elevate their performance on behalf of customers." Saia measures six primary indicators developed as the result of in-depth research from customers making transportation buying decisions. Those six indicators, referred to as the Saia Customer Service Indicators̉, include, in addition to on-time delivery and on-time pickup, claims-free shipment percentage, claims settled within 30 days, proof of delivery (POD) turnaround and invoicing accuracy. Saia is the only carrier in its class to publish a Customer Service Indicator Index, making those results available to customers.
